The mention of Ayurveda is traced back to the Vedas, the four books of wisdom. Discover and experience this ancient art of healing on your heritage tour of India with Heritage in India.
Ayurveda in India
This ancient art of healing is believed to be older than any other systems of medicine and is based on the five elements or Panchmahabhuta as it is called. The five elements that Ayurveda is based on are earth, water, fire, air and space. Ayurveda studies an ailment or disease in relation to these five elements and then prescribes a cure accordingly. Ayurveda uses herbs and plants for treatment.

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, which means 'the science of life'.
Ayurveda has gained popularity in recent years and is seen as the alternative way of healing body and mind. Kerala, in the southern India is believed to be an ideal destination for taking Ayurveda treatment. But there are number of other Ayurvedic centers across India that promise to offer authentic Ayurvedic treatment. Every year a number of tourists from abroad come to India for Ayurvedic treatment. Many hotels in India also offer Ayurvedic massage and treatment in their spas.

There are many Ayurvedic treatments that you can take on your tour to India. Some of the treatments that you may like to enjoy include Pizhichil, Njavarakizhi, Patraswedam, Uzhichil, Medicated Steam Bath and Shirodhara.

Pizhichil keeps the body fit and healthy and prevents body from premature ageing. In Pizhichil, a cloth dipped in lukewarm medicated oil is squeezed over the body, which is followed by a gentle massage. Shirodhara is the most common Ayurvedic treatment prescribed for insomnia, headaches and migraines. Uzhichil is the general body massage that helps in toning the muscle tissues, stimulates nervous system, alleviate stiffness of joints and improves blood circulation.

Ayurveda tour of India is your passport to healthy and long life. Come and enjoy this ancient art of healing of mind and body with Heritage in India.
